Nya Perspektiv - Tuesday Programme for Spring 2010

19/1 Det Projektala Samfundet (SE)
A young Västerås Band starts up this spring's program. DPS was founded on Carlforsska high school last fall and is playing great sounds with swine-influences. Their music is a tribute to the "All", balancing between the improvised and composed. Creative music with a lot of heart. Jimmy Söderman - piano, Jakob Öhlen - guitar, Agnes Fahlström - vocals, Patrik Weidmo - guitar, Viktor Persson Bengtsson - drums, Martin Nordlöf Fröjd - Saxophone
A collaboration between Nya Perspektiv/New Perspectives and Carlforsska high school. NOTE! Free admission.

26/1 The King of herrings (SE, CA, UK)
A trio, born in 2007 in London, which released their first CD in 2009 at Jedso Records. The group presents a kaleidoscope of sounds that takes us all the way from Hedenhös to Armageddon via CuLTUREN. In an unpredictable, beautiful and brutal way the grind the music down to its smallest components to build a wide music that in some cases reaches 12m. David Stackenäs - Swedish acoustic guitar and lute, Phil Durrant - laptop, Joe Williamson - double bass

9/2 Acoustic Electronics (SE, CH)
An international impro-trio from Switzerland and Sweden, whose distinct sound approaches the electroacoustic world. Their music builds a collective of polyrhytmic layers, disintegrated melodies, unrestrained strings: a tapestry of spreading sound structures in a constantly intense and dynamic change. Charlotte Hug - viola, Nina de Heney - double bass, Christian Jormin - Percussion

16/2 Prylf (SE)
Prylf delivers jazz standards sprayed with chemicals, glitter splashes from the scene when they started, the sweat is pouring and joy is complete. The Courage and passion of Eric Dolphy is combined with the brutality of Messhuggah and dance mood dissected from Euro-disco. They re-arrange the template for jazz standards, presenting themes in new ways and then the moment determines the rest. Linnéa Henriksson - vocals, Anton Toorell - guitar, Felix Martinz - vibraphone & electronics, Patrik Grundström - double bass, Raeel Raissi - drums

24/2 Nya Perspektiv på Konstmueet
Experimental young theater-performance from Västerås in combination
with a potpourri of sound artists who have one foot in the future. NOTE! Free admission. Place: Västerås Art Museum

2/3 Lisa Ullén Quartet (SE)
With roots in jazz, punk, blues, and chamber music Lisa Ullén and her band plays music in which each tone is as important as the whole. They belong to the new wave of free musicians who dare to give the music space, melody and beat. With their luggage, they have their critically acclaimed album "Revolution Rock". Lisa Ullén - piano, Mats Äleklint - trombone, Nils Ölmedal - bass, Andreas Axelsson - drums

9/3 Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey (US)
Influenced by both Beethoven & Karajan as Led Zeppelin & Radiohead JFJO belong to the hippest bands in the U.S. right now! Long, caressing tones from a lapsteel-guitar woven together with sensitive and virtuoso piano playing. All backed by a super tight and funky rhythm section. JFJO has received great reviews internationally and is the absolute leading edge of jazz. For example the magazine Jazz Times says: "JFJO burns with a quiet intensity rather than dramatically explodes. The musicians play with a coiled looseness, improvising with quicksilver yet deliberate force. You can hear the band's power and inventiveness creatively eroding structure, and The tension produced from that is exhilarating. If JFJO is not moving jazz forward, it is shifting its center of gravity Interestingly askew. "

16/3 Nina Ramsby Ludvig Berghe Trio (SE)
"Always leave safety, for it has never brought you forwards, it has never made you free." Nina's text corresponds just as well with New Perspectives philosophy as it does with the fantastic music from this group. Jazz is combined with folksongs, which is combined with performance. A group that breaks the old jazz and the old fellow's heavy dogmas in favor of something new and poetic. If you have not experienced this band, its really time now! Nina Ramsby - vocals, clarinet, cornet, Ludvig Berghe - piano, Daniel Fredriksson - drums, Lars Ekman - bass

30/3 Erik Oscarsson Trio (SE)
Explosive, harsh and tumultuous, can be the case when Erik Oscarsson confronts Nya Perspektiv. Tonight's show is uncensored and there is no escape route for this true punker who sit behind the keys and let his fingers tell. This time he is confronted by Patric Thorman and Magnus Vikberg wearing flak jackets and with semafore-flags in standby mode. Erik Oscarsson - piano, Patric Thorman - bass, Magnus Vikberg - drums

13/4 Nya Perspektiv på Konserthuset: THUS:OWLS
Thus: OWLS were brought together by Erika Angell (formerly Alexandersson) in order to let the music playing in her head reach other ears and hearts. Together with an odd bird from the other side of the world they have created their own musical landscape where everything grows bigger and wilder. If you have to put into words what thus: OWLS are doing musically, you could possibly fall under the broad wording experimental, alternative pop. It is majestic, beautiful and harsh at the same time. Erika Angell - vocals, Simon Angell - guitar, Ola Hultgren - drums, Martin Höper - bass, Cecilia Persson - piano

Venue: Västerås Concert Hall, small room at 19:00
Ticket price: SEK 90 adult / £ 30 students

27/4 Ris & Ros (SE)
Premiere! "Ris och Ros" (transl. Greet and Groom) is a special group composed for Nya Perspektiv which is based on the meeting between sound art and improvised music. Both these areas are handled with reverent respect and experience of the group's constituents: Ann Rosen and Jacob Riis. The name of the group may, with this starting point, develop its own history concerning how both of these artists have a perculiar way to communicate and create aesthetic approaches. Imagine sitting on a boat in the Drake Passage and experience the union between the Atlantic and Pacific ... Electronic applications in the higher realm. Ann Rosen - analog, digital and textile synths, Jacob Riis - laptop and processing

4/5 Kuchen/Rowe/Wright (SE, UK)
Keith Rowe has been at the forefront of developments in improvised music for over 40 years. As one of the first to play a electronically manipulated table-topgitarr he continues to explore and expand the instrument's possibilities. To Västerås Keith accompanied with Martin Kuchen and Seymour Wright. Both of these young saxophonists, with their distinctive playing new and important voices in the improvised music. Keith Rowe - table-topgitarr, Matin Kuchen - saxophone, Seymour  Wright - saxophone

11/5 Okuensemblen ”Down to earth yet Noble” (SE)
Innovative chamber music in a meeting between different cultures, Western and Japanese. An attractive and beautiful consonance appears in the resulting fusion between the haiku master Basho lyrics and Borg's music. Improvisation in harmony with the throughout fully composed and richly detailed pieces - all made with a unique and explorating sound. Rasmus Borg - piano, Sarah Riedel - vocals, Elin Sydhagen - viola, Joel Wästberg - alto saxophone, Ingrid Andersson - violoncello

Nya Perspektiv in SVT again!

Nya Perspektiv Thuesday Club Programme got attention in Regional News Swedish National SVT Tvärsnytt News 20 okt 2009 22.15 Featuring: Yoleeyo + Thomas Gunillasson

Nutida Musik recenserar Perspectives 2009
